HELP lower right side pain radiates up right side and down right leg?

Posted on August 2009 in right side pain

my gf said she woke up this am and had a bagel with cream cheese and a choclate milk…..30 min later felt really qweezy and nauses…and has had pain on lwer right side that radiates up her side and a little on her back,and on to her right leg….any ideas? no fever…said advil isn’t helping….could this be associated with gerd or????

I’m thinking more like kidney stones with the pain in the lower back and radiating up and down on her right side.

Chocolate, tea, dark colas and caffiene are all contributors to kidney stones which are very painful and if this is the case she will need to see a urologist for help passing the stone(s) . For me a kidney stone was worse than natural childbirth.

Also, consider if her monthly cycle is regular, if she takes birth control, etc……. A cyst on an ovary can also give those same symptoms, is many times overlooked but can be very painful also. In this case a gyn visit would be in order.

Both of these will cause nausea, even sometimes vomiting either from infection or severe pain. A fever is seldom present during either episode.

Even an urgent care can help at least to give her somethng for the pain, and take a urine sample to check for stones or other infection.

Good Luck and I do hope she feels better soon. I applaud you for being so caring as to try to find a solution. She’s a lucky girl.

Exercise For Back Pain Relief: Good Or Bad?

Posted on August 2009 in right side pain

Many of us feel that when the back hurts it is better to let it have as much rest as possible. Exercising during back pain is considered to be something that must be avoided. This notion is understandable because one feels that burdening one’s back with excess activity might damage the back further. However, what is not realized is that exercise is a part of the process of healing.

Fitness activities do not damage the back but they help the discs to get nutrition by exchange of fluids. A lack of exercise makes the discs degenerate. That is one thing that back exercise does not allow. Another advantage is that the exercise builds the supporting back muscles. These muscles take much of the load and thus relieve the spine, which prevents injuries to the spine.

If you have undergone a back surgery, mild back exercises would help the muscles gain strength and you could recover much faster.

Basically, the primary purpose of exercising one’s back is to build strength and improve flexibility. The key here is that you should not overdo them. There is quite range of exercise for you to choose from. Some of them are backward bending, hip extension, press ups, pectoral stretch, side bending etc.

The ‘dead lift’ is one of the best back exercises. However, it is not recommended for everyone because though it strengthens the back better than most of the exercises, but it needs quite a considerable strength and needs to be done with precision. If it is not done properly it may result in injury. Besides, it is one of those exercises that leave one exhausted after the workout. Therefore, it is important that if you decide to go for a ‘dead lift’ workout, make sure that you do it under the supervision of an expert. Another important thing is that you should start light. Do not start lifting heavy weight right away because that may injure your back.

Now comes the rest part. Give yourself proper rest because muscles need rest to recuperate and that’s how they gain strength. So, if you do not take proper rest, chances are that you might not derive as much strength from your workouts as you otherwise could. Exercise is the best way to have a healthy back. Start today.

Bloading and lower right side pain, what is it?

Posted on July 2009 in right side pain

I have had a pain in my lower right abdomen (two-three inches below and to the left of my hip bone). It is not constant, but appears every several minutes, however aan annoying ensation is there all the time now. It feels like tightning or squeezing, it is so strong that for those few seconds I cannot move or beath in/out. It has gotten a bit worse these last few days. I am going to the dr. but I want t make sure it’s okay to wait till then. The pain sometimes also makes me bloaded i m right side abdomen, and gives me the need to go to th bathrom,,,,but I don’t…. or the pain moves down to my right groin and feels like its numbing/tingling almost like a pulled mucle. I have gone to the bathroom regularly….. Any ideas?

It really sounds like gas. I have had gas pain so bad that I thought I was having an ulcer. And gas pains can show up anywhere in your body. As long as you’re not in constant severe pain, it isn’t anything serious. If it was your pancreas or appendix it would be hurting so bad after just a day that you wouldn’t hardly be able to move. Try drinking a lot of coke, or something else carbonated. It should make you burp and relieve some of the pressure. As for bloating, this could also be cause by a gas bubble. It really is like a balloon your bady blows up, and the pain is caused by it pressing against nerves, which can make it feel like it’s in odd places.

Mysterious longlasting severe lower right side pain?

Posted on July 2009 in right side pain

Since December I’ve had an intense pain in my lower right side. It sometimes gets very severe. I cannot do simple things like walk very far, ride my bike, have sex, etc. I’ve been on the Deprovera shot for almost two years and am thinking of going off of it to see how it affects the pain. The doctors don’t know what it is, but it is possibly endometriosis or a rare appendicitis. All tests have come back negative, I even had a laperoscopy. What do you recommend? Has anyone experienced something like this?

I have experienced the same thing and almost lost my life months later. It turned out to be extensive deep vein thrombosis. I would recommend as a precaution that you request a venous dopplar scan to rule out DVT as it is very common with Depo Provera. Another tell tale sign is if you have difficulty breathing at times. Run not walk to the emergency room and have the test done immediately!!!!!

Is A Nip & Tuck Right for You?

Cosmetic surgery: it is the latest trend in overcoming self-esteem issues that stem from wrinkles, weight gain, skin disorders or breast size. Celebrities are doing it. Your friends are doing it. But should you consider cosmetic surgery?

Before taking the plunge, it is important to consider the reasons for wanting to have cosmetic surgery done. Ask yourself the following questions:

1. Is my condition bad enough that cosmetic surgery may be my only option?
2. How is this problem - that could be fixed by cosmetic surgery - really affecting my social or professional life, if at all?
3. Can I solve this problem on my own through exercise, counseling, medication, or over the counter creams, lotions, etc.? Am I doing this because it’s an easy way to solve a problem?
4. What are the benefits of cosmetic surgery? How will it change the way I feel or think about myself?
5. Are there underlying self-esteem issues that cosmetic surgery will only temporarily cure?

Cosmetic surgery can definitely make you feel better about your appearance, but only if you already have a positive self-image before any cosmetic surgery is done. People who have had cosmetic surgery have experienced greater self-confidence and improved social or sex lives, but there is not any solid evidence that it will improve your mental well-being.

Other Considerations for Cosmetic Surgery

Once you have determined that cosmetic surgery may be the appropriate option for you, it is also important to consider the following:

1. How is your overall health?

2. Do you have realistic expectations about the outcome of the surgery? By changing your appearance, there are no guarantees that it will solve your problems at home or at work.

3. If you are experiencing a very stressful time in your life such as divorce, grieving the loss of a loved one, job loss or mental illness, consider cosmetic surgery once you have overcome these difficult issues.

4. What can you afford to have done? Cosmetic surgery is expensive and typically not covered by insurance. Most of the time there is not a finance option for this type of surgery, so you will need to have the full amount up front before the procedure.

5. Do you have the time? With some procedures, there may be an extensive amount of recovery time (anywhere from one day to one month) that may require you to take time off from work or take you away from your household responsibilities.

6. Consider the risks involved; like any other surgery, there are possible problems that may arise or side effects that you may experience.
* Nausea, dizziness and pain
* Numbness and tingling
* Fluid buildup
* Poor blood circulation
* Infection
* Bleeding
* Uneven or lumpy appearance

7. The outcome may not be what you had hoped or expected. There are instances where cosmetic surgery has gone terribly wrong and the outcome was devastating. These are rare instances, but are still possible.

8. Plastic surgery is not suitable for people who are prone to mood swings or erratic behavior, abuse drugs or alcohol, or are receiving treatment for clinical depression or other mental illness.

9. Get other opinions. Make sure you chose a licensed surgeon who will discuss the pros and cons of your procedure, and will also be honest with you about what to expect after surgery.

* Make sure your surgeon is experienced and certified in the type of procedure you are having done
* Seek recommendations from people you trust, not merely a referral service

The Decision is Made

If you have now decided that the time is right for you to have cosmetic surgery, make sure you have a support network that will help you both physically and emotionally before and after the procedure. It is common that you may experience a bout of depression after surgery, so it’s essential that you have loved ones around who aren’t negative or judgmental about cosmetic surgery.

Don’t worry what you look like immediately after surgery. As with any procedure, you will not see the change right away, as there may be some swelling, bruising or scars that will fade with time. If you are having a procedure done that will dramatically change your appearance, be aware that you may need some time to adjust to the changes of your body, as will those who are close to you.

I have sciatica in right side in leg but also have pain in my hands and wrists is there a connection?

Posted on July 2009 in right side pain

I have sciatic in the right side of leg but the problem is that I am having strong pain in hands and wrists, weak arm movement in the right side. The pain is stronger at night. Is this connected with the lumbar damage, I have had a CT scan result is L4-5 possible impingement

Actually the nerves that control your arms and legs come from your cervical and thoracic chains of vertebrae. You may want to have your doc look a little further north on the CT scan for further damage.

Right side pain located 2inches from belly button?

Posted on July 2009 in right side pain

my right side usually don’t hurt when i run, 3 weeks ago my platoon ran a little faster than it normally did and i started to hurt. they said it was just cramps, but i’ve been hurting even with a slow pace since after that. i’ve been drinking water and avoiding sodas. i’m well hydrated and i’ve been trying to get as much air in my lungs when i run, it helps a little bit but i’m still in pain. why? what can i do to stop it?

Sounds like appendicitis. I REALLY REALLY would go see a doctor. and SOON. If appendicitis is left untreated, you could get a burst appendix, and that’s not really happy…

My wife is 5wk pregt and she is getting little pain on lower right side of abdominal thru out day. Plz respond

She is having low intensity pain on lower right side abdominal . Pain vanishes when she have food. Please tell me wht shall i do ?

This is completely normal so both of you rest assured! Don’t let her stress out over it be sure and tell her its normal. I was about 5/6 weeks along and experienced the same thing up until I was about 12 weeks along. I rushed into the ER first thing because I was so scared I was losing the baby ( I had been trying to concieve for almost a year and so everything scared me in the beginning ) When I went into the ER with these pains in my abdomen the doctor told me they were completely normal. Its from your uterus stretching so much and all your muscles in your abdomen and all your organs "making room" for baby. But a lot of it comes from the uterus stretching so much. I’m sure you’re thinking…but in the first trisemester you don’t even show and in the end your uterus is huge…well the amount that the uterus stretches just in the first trisemester is the biggest percentile of change. The uterus is multiplying itself in size by 5/6 times!! After that the growth is pretty much gradual even though the uterus is getting huge hehe. Good luck to her with the pregnancy and congrats on the babe! I wish her a safe and healthy delivery!!

18 weeks pregnant very severe abdominal pain on right side?

Posted on July 2009 in right side pain

After i used the bathroom this morning I have had severe right side abdominal pain. So bad that i can barely walk or move. It hurts to go to the bathroom and if I lie down I am okay just a little tender. The nurse said to rest I called back 4 hours later because I was still in pain and she said to come in tomorrow at 1130. Until then has anybody has such severe pain at this stage of pregnancy?

i have a lot of pain in the ligaments around (that hold) my uterus. they hurt so bad. so i have to just lay down for a little bit and then they finally stop hurting. or you could have a really big gas bubble. i know that sounds silly, but it could be. or your baby could be pinching a nerve on that side.

but yes, no matter what we say here, make sure you do call your doctor back if the pain persists.
